Kangaroo Island covers 4,416 square kilometres, and its two famous sights sit far apart.
Seal Bay is on the south coast; Flinders Chase is 110 km west of Kingscote. On your own, a day
trip means booking the ferry, hiring a car and driving hard. This day does all three for you,
and the fare of $285 per person covers the coach, the ferry, the guide, lunch and
the park fees.

Your driver meets you inside the Adelaide Central Bus Station, 83-85 Franklin
Street, by the entrance to the bus bays. Be there at least 15 minutes before your departure
time, which is on your confirmation. Hotel pickup and drop-off are in the fare too, so you can
choose to be collected instead.
Seal Bay beach access is paused. As of 17 September
2026, National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia has paused access to the beach at
Seal Bay to protect the sea lions. The park stays open, and a roaming guide explains the
colony from the boardwalk. This fare lists a guided beach walk, so ask the operator what runs

Know before you go
Plan on sixteen hours. You get back to Adelaide at about 22:40, so keep the next morning free.
Pack snacks and drinks. Both are excluded; skip honey products and unwashed potatoes, which the island bans.
Wear walking shoes. The boardwalk down to Admirals Arch is steep, with steps.
Tell them what you eat. Give dietary needs when you book; one traveller had a vegan lunch with dessert.
It runs all year except Christmas Day. The ferry does not sail on 25 December.

Yes on the day tours, which run by coach to Cape Jervis and ferry to Penneshaw. On the 2-day tour you can also meet the group at Penneshaw, but then the ferry ticket is yours to buy.
Can I see the whole island in a day?
No. You see its two headline sights, Seal Bay and Flinders Chase. The island tourism body says you can see some of it in a day; three days is a small taste.
Is the day too long for children?
